More Tips for Hiring a Locksmith

Many people stuck in an emergency make a poor choice of a plumber, locksmith or electrician in haste. Here are some tips to keep you from getting burned.

The first thing you should do is look for someone before you need them.

So first make your basic checks. Look at references and the Better Business Bureau. Then Google the business name and see what comes up.   Then you will have a finalist list.

Next, see if the business has a business license. Check that with the Dept. of Licensing Web site.

If they don’t, stop right there. If they do, look them up on the Dept. of Labor & Industries Web site.  Always check the status of the contractor.

Locksmiths are not licensed in this state. So the Associated Locksmiths of America has a site where you can search for a qualified locksmith in your area.

Consumer news

Also go to your state government’s website run the business name or the owners name see if the business or owner have a lot of debtors judgments against them.

If so, it could mean they have money issues that could affect you.
